The Paço das Artes' exhibition concept was that of an archive as an infinite and in constant construction element: in other words, a “live archive”. The graphical approach was to represent the structure of an archive; to present it, in an abstract way, before there’s even material to archive. Archiving is a mental and organisational action, which, at some point and once the parameters of archiving have been established, works with the anticipation of the material yet to come. The white blocks represent this structure and predefinition of archival space, open to any mutations, and, therefore, a “live archive”. During the exhibition, people were invited to leave their thoughts and manifestations on these empty spaces in the exhibition space.
